Report strengthens green credentials

Corticeira Amorim has continued to build on its strong environmental credentials through a series of initiatives outlined in its fourth Sustainability Report. Among the highlights are a 16% reduction in carbon dioxide emissions and the recycling of 662 tons of natural cork. Of this figure cork stoppers accounted for 92 tons (20 million stoppers).

Corticeira Amorim has also extended its support for sustainable cork forestry practices with almost 31 square miles covered by a new technical advisory program, established with the aim of identifying and adopting best practices in the management of cork oak forests.

The Sustainability Report explains the company’s best practice in sustainable cork manufacturing, highlights the major sustainability results achieved during 2009 and outlines the initiatives implemented during the year.
